Selling a readymade blog is easier if you already have a large following and if you are already ranked fairly high up the search engine results pages. In other words, an established blog is easier to sell than a simple blog template. So, if you are looking to sell blogs then consider making them more established first. Here are a few ways that you can sell your blog and make it more appealing to your customers.
Make sure the blog has a great navigation system
A cheap or poorly optimized navigation system is going to make it harder for you to sell your blog. It will look cheap and many people are unwilling to buy one that does not already have a great navigation system. This is because the navigation system is the hardest part to change on a blog. It takes a lot of time and effort to update or change the navigation system, so most people will give it a miss if yours is not very good.
A mature and conservative blog design
You may think that the flashy, futuristic and highly technical ready-made blogs are the easiest to sell, but you would be wrong. A highly stylized and funky looking blog is only going to appeal to a small segment of your customer base. This is because many people will think that it looks good, but that it is not exactly what they were looking for.
A ready-made blog that loads quickly
People are very aware that a blogs loading time is going to have an effect on its search engine optimization. They know that if a blog takes a long time to load then it is going to struggle to rise up through the search engine results pages. Make sure that the code is tight, and clean, and that the ready-made blog loads quickly. Make sure it is optimized to be as light weight as possible without compromising the quality of the visual effects, background or overall appearance.
Add in a keyword cloud
They look good and have the same SEO effect as the regular tabbed keyword section, so there is no reason for not adding it in. You could also add in other features such as making it compatible with the Google authorship program, or setting up a page full of rules for guest blog posters to submit their proposals through. You could add widgets at the bottom that suggest other blog titles for the blog viewer to read next. You can sell this idea as a method of keeping viewers on the website.
An established ready-made blog
As it said in the introduction, an established blog will sell for a lot more than a blog template or design. Find a domain name that is allied with the overall theme/topic of the blog. Post blog posts every week until you have a following. Install things such as an RSS feed, comment section, and social media widgets. Grow the blog until it has a following and a position on the search engine results pages. Do all of the SEO work required for the blog too.
Once you have done all of this then you have a lot of selling points for your blog. You can sell the blog in its entirety, including the domain name. You can show that your blog already has traffic, and you can charge more if it has a lot of traffic, lots of “like”s on social media, and lots of RSS feed subscribers. If you want to take a risk then you can insert affiliate advertising. You can show the user how much affiliate advertising money they can make each month with your blog. The only downside to that is that the consumer may think it does not earn enough affiliate advertising money and not buy for that reason alone.
The fact that all of the SEO is already done is a big selling point, since a lot of bloggers that buy blog templates have to do all of the SEO themselves. With your established ready-made blog your customers are able to hit the ground running, and the better your blog is at attracting traffic, then the more you can charge for it.
