Education is a focus on learning new skills. I have been experimenting with ways to enhance teaching methods using new as well as old technology. This brings me to the tutorial. I enjoy writing tutorials because they are short and to the point in teaching a skill or concept. There are many ways to do them. Many of my tutorials started life as written pages and have gone on to become videos. I have linked some on my blog, but you can see them all on my YouTube site. Visit it here: TheTeachingBox on YouTube
Video Tutorials
This was originally a blog post, but I have linked it here as well for easy access.
If you have hosting on a Linux System chances are you have cPanel as your Web Server interface. Here is a great collection of 14 Must See How To Videos.
This new group of videos are even better than the original cPanel video tutorial series. They are well done and cover advanced topics that are of interest to the more advanced user. These videos will take your ability to use cPanel to the next level.
Originally a blog post, I feel that I need to make it a permanent Tutorial Link. This set of videos is pretty useful, and covers what I would consider all the basics. It does take some time to view them as most are around 4-5 minutes long. They are in flash format, so you will need to have flash enabled in your browser (should not be an issue nowdays). I also have the video links open in a new window. It should not trigger your popup blocker, but if it does you may need to adjust your browser settings.
PC Tune Up Video Tutorial Series
This is a series of Basic Tutorials on how to keep your computer running at peak efficiency. I originally used them as individual Blog Posts, but here is the entire group in one place. They are Flash Format and will play easily on your computer. The links will open in a new window so that you can focus on the content.
Online Tutorials
As an online instructor I have worked extensively creating tutorials to enable students to perform certain tasks. Here are links to some online tutorials that I have created using basic html.
The goal of this tutorial is to create a Disc (CD or DVD) that can be placed into the CD/DVD drive of a computer. The computer will then automatically launch an application to allow the user to view the pictures on the disc.
The companion file can be downloaded – Here I will be working on a video version also.
This is a short tutorial that shows how to create a basic multimedial movie using the the Windows Moviemaker Program.
This is a tutorial I wrote that shows students how to create a survey within the BlackBoard CMS Environment. I did this tutorial during my internship for my PostSecondary Teaching Certification. The Professor I did this tutorial for has included it as part of the Bethel University Blackboard Help System. (
Blackboard Survey Tutorial)
This is a single page tutorial that demonstrates how to create video based tutorials using CamStudio and how to use YouTube technologies such as embedding to display and share the video.
This set of pages is a lecture and assignment page I wrote about setting up and using a Blog. Keep an eye out here as I will add more tutorials. Feel free to comment and give me feedback. The beauty is that that they are online and editable, therefore they area always a work in progress.
