Our social order considers students as an important aspect of economic success. However, in the current scenario, people usually want to use technologically equipped devices like smart phones, IPads, and laptops in classrooms. Usage of technologically advanced machines by several individuals within different industries is considered a symbol of ultimate success in the relevant field. However, our so-called rational society has got the double standards when it comes to relate the advantages of using various interactive technologies with academic success of students.

Should We Allow Students to Use Technology in Classrooms? Time to Think Again!

It is an ongoing debate that ‘whether students should be allowed to use interactive technologies in their classrooms.’ Different people, from different backgrounds have different notions in this particular respect. As far as parents’ and teachers’ stance regarding the use of interactive technology in classrooms is concerned, it is more or less the same. In this particular community, the belief is quite rife that if students are allowed to use technology in classrooms then they might be distracted from the studies and this would create a negative effect on their academic growth. On the other hand, students in the current scenarios are stressing on the fact that they should be allowed to use interactive technology for their educational purposes within classrooms because it will endow them with the latest information and help them adopting the latest techniques of self-management. Students usually argue on the fact that they are lagging behind other developed countries like Germany, China, Russia etc because young generation of high school is far away from technology.

Another important point in this scenario is that when teachers are there to teach the students with PowerPoint slides, IPhone and IPads then students should be allowed to learn from these mediums too. Double standards should not be there and this would be beneficial for both teachers and students.

Advantages of Using Interactive Technology in Classrooms

Teachers should allow students to use these aspects because students can collaborate in this manner with their fellow students and a particular time should be separated from the classroom so that students can discuss their relevant queries and concerns through this medium.

• Through this medium, students can save their time of researching information, as they can have accessibility of worldwide information then and there.

Banning cell phones or other technology devices is not the solution rather it would negatively affect the students. Thus, to overcome these negative aspects of using technology usage in classrooms, students should be taught the effective use of technology.
